Be the change

by on Jan.05, 2012, under Blog

You must be the change you wish to see in the worldMohandas Gandhi

I’m a young adult striving to be a real Christian in a world that could care less. Many people say this world needs to change the way it acts and does things. Human beings are becoming wicked and selfish. How though? How can you change individuals and how they act?

I’ve seen Christians  point out mistakes of people or judge people in hopes of having them realize they need to change their ways. NOPE!!!! It makes me sad to see Christians acting nothing like Jesus Christ. I read the gospels and every parable you read about Jesus shows he was an influence. Think about it. When Jesus spoke to the crowds, the crowds were from few to thousands. His teachings had an influence on people. He taught to love others, to help the sick, to forgive others, to not keep grudges, to give to the poor, and not to judge others, just to name a few.

How can you show people this? You be the influence. You offer help to someone who needs it, you forgive those who ridicule you or persecute you, don’t judge others, and most importantly LOVE others as Christ loves you. There’s a saying, you can talk the talk but can you walk the walk?  Don’t sit around and hope the world changes.

You be the change.

Here in Your love

by on Nov.02, 2011, under Blog

The song that I included in this blog has been playing in my head for the past 3 weeks. It’s my favorite song. Ever since the moment that I heard this song, I fell in love with it. If you listen to the lyrics, which is simple, No place I rather be but here here in your love. If your not a Christian or if you don’t have a relationship with Jesus, you probably won’t understand what I’m about to say.

We’re born into this world with a void in our hearts/life. Some people find things to fill it like drugs, alcohol, sexual pleasures, etc. It might work for awhile but eventually it will end. I was one of those types of people. I filled that void with crap. I had problems and no solutions. Finally, I found Jesus. I asked him to fill that void in my life with his LOVE. From that moment on, the emptiness had been replaced. Was life perfect after that? Nope. I probably struggled with temptation and aspects of this world more than before. However, what changed was the fact I was given assurance of his love no matter what. When I come to his presence, I feel peace, hope, and  encouragement. The other nonsense didn’t give me this type of feeling. When I hear the lyrics, “ No place I rather be but here here in your love” it’s true. I don’t want to be anywhere else but only in his love.

The Bible says God’s love is everlasting and infinite. The Bible also says no one can separate us from his love. The only way to feel this love is to ask Jesus to come into your life. It’s a decision that I will never regret. The presence of love can’t be described because it’s indescribable. There’s no words in the English language that’s worthy to be used as an adjective. If you take that decision, I promise you’ll never want to be anywhere but in his love.

Our Prayer

by on Sep.19, 2011, under Blog

Give us cleans hands give us pure hearts
Let us not lift our souls to another
Give us cleans hands and give us pure hearts
Let us not lift our souls to another

Oh God let us be a generation that seeks
That seeks your face oh God of Jacob
Oh God let us be a generation that seeks
That seeks your face oh God of Jacob

I was in church listening to this song during our praise and worship. I’ve been feeling pretty down lately because it seems I can’t get a grip on some bad habits in my life. Considering that I’m part of ROC 3:22 I should be on top of this but that’s not the case for me. I take this role pretty seriously and it angers me when I fail. When I sang this song, I know God was speaking to me because in a warm room I suddenly got goosebumps all over my body. This is my prayer that I seek God through the good and the bad times. I know I speak alot about failing and saying your forgiven and just “get back on the horse” but sometimes we need to really reflect on our actions. We have to be accountable. I was reminded of that just recently. Let this be not only my prayer but all of ours.

Get back on the Horse

get back on the horse

Hey guys..for the past couple of days I’ve been thinking about my Christian life and how I’ve been living it for the past few years. I’d like to call myself a real Christian. Not only do I read the Bible, go to church, listen to Christian music but I also try to tell people about Jesus. However, I have my bad weeks too. There are times when I make the wrong decisions when I know it’s wrong, don’t read the Bible, and not wanting to be a Christian. I’m sure everyone’s gone through this. After I go through this, I put myself down because I should of known better of not making that decision or should of helped someone out when I could. For me, sometimes I feel like I failed as a Christian and ask myself what’s the point in trying again the next day. Then I realize I’m not perfect….we’re not perfect!! Jesus knows this. We ALL have our strengths and flaws as a person. We have to realize we all make mistakes in life but we continue to push through life and pursue perfection. When someone needs encouragement, I usually tell them to dust yourself off and get back on the horse. So I challenge you today not to get discouraged and give up, but rather get back on the horse.

Going the Extra Mile

To just read the Bible, attend church, and avoid "big sins" - is this passionate, wholehearted love for God?

I saw this quote. I thought it was interesting. “To just read the Bible, attend church, and avoid “big sins” – is this passionate, wholehearted love for God?”

What do you think? I actually sat in front of my laptop for several minutes just thinking about it. I came to the conclusion of “absolutely not”. This is no where near being passionate or wholehearted for God. As Christians, I believe we are to do more for God than just the basics. It’s a 24-7 job. Wherever you go and whatever you say, you’re representing Jesus Christ. I believe the most important job of a Christian is to show the love of Christ and most Christians DO NOT!! You have to make time in your day to fellowship with God to make the relationship stronger because it’s only through him that you’re able to do anything. In everything you do, Jesus Christ should be glorified. Think about it. God sent his only son to DIE for you and me!! What kind of love is that? If he did that for me, then what the heck am I suppose to do for him??

That’s what I asked myself. I think all he wants us to do is to worship him and thank him for his mercies and blessings. I challenge you to do more than the mere minimum and call yourself a real Christian.
